I spent storm-watch-Saturday reading the Fulton County, GA, indictment and taking notes about Nevada.
Before I get to that, let me just say that this 90-plus page document reminds me of a law school exam. Wherein, a bizarre and convoluted fact pattern is laid out and one must identify all potential crimes and criminals. In this instance, it might be impossible to address them all in the time allotted. Oh to be a law student right now. Plus, back in my day, we could never have imagined something called “tweets” being listed as “overt acts in furtherance of the conspiracy.”
Also, Rudy Giuliani referring to Fulton County election workers as people who “went about their dirty, crooked business” is ironic indeed. That vile piece of excrement could give even Trump lessons in projection—and apparently did. It sickens me to think that he and his criminal cohorts ever set foot in Nevada.
In the Georgia election interference indictment, it states, “The [criminal organization] enterprise operated in Fulton County, Georgia, elsewhere in the State of Georgia, in other states, including, but not limited to, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.”
Michigan’s secretary of state has criminally indicted their fake electors, and it looks like Arizona is not far behind.
Hence, being a Democratic voter in Nevada is particularly vexing right now, with apparently little hope for justice or accountability on the horizon. As I read portions of the indictment that mention Nevada’s ignominious fake electors and their conspired scheme, I did a slow burn.
Act 51 states, On or about the 10th day of December 2020, Kenneth John Chesebro [automatic spell correct attempted to change this to cheeseboard] sent an email to the Nevada Republican Party Vice Chairman Jim DeGraffenreid. The email stated that Giuliani and others associated with the Trump campaign asked him “to reach out to you and the other Nevada electors to run point on the plan to have all Trump-Pence electors in all six contested States to meet and transmit their votes to Congress on Monday, Dec 14. This was an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.”
Ya think? Criminal defendants then proceeded to send the Nevada GOP leaders documents for the purpose of falsely casting electoral votes despite the fact that, “Trump lost the Nov 3, 2020, presidential election in Nevada.” Another overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.
How many conspiratorial criminal acts does Nevada need to finally act upon, and why haven’t they? It’s not as if the Silver State is a stranger to crimes involving mobster racketeering. Here’s what I’ve been able to glean so far.
Jim DeGraffenreid sells insurance as Summit Partners in Minden, Nevada, not far from Carson City and also not far from the MAGA gun-worshipping hellscape I used to live in. As vice chairman of the Nevada GOP, he and chairman Michael McDonald (whose phone was seized by the FBI) were offered “limited immunity” to testify to the DC grand jury in June of this year about their roles in the effort to overturn the 2020 election in Nevada.
Most titillating is they supposedly testified about former Nevada Attorney General and senate candidate (who lost) Adam Laxalt’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Nevada for his man Trump. As the Nevada AG, this questionably-qualified-to-be-a-lawyer posted on Facebook, “I will uphold your God-given right to bear arms”—against an American flag backdrop. As if he were an evangelical preacher, not someone sworn to uphold the actual law of the land in Nevada.
Laxalt and Nevada’s current MAGA Governor Lombardo are two peas in a putrid pod of heinous hypocrisy. Because I’ve also learned that Lombardo has vetoed a bill criminalizing in Nevada the act of submitting a false electoral slate. Apparently it hasn’t previously been a crime because no one but the current cast of slimeball Nevada Republicans conspirators has ever sought to do so.
Appallingly, our current Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, a Democrat, said in May that his office would not be pursuing prosecution against the fake electors. Why is that? Does the governor have something to do with that?
And has anything changed in light of this recent Georgia indictment outlining and including these Nevada overt acts as racketeering crimes and outright fraud, which is in fact a crime in Nevada? Because these fake Nevada electors attempted to compromise my vote and my right to have my vote counted in Nevada for a Democrat.
Governor Lombardo, former sheriff of Clark County, was sworn to uphold the law, even as a conniving Republican. As such, he was supposed to fight crime—all crimes—including those committee by his MAGA Republican buddies against Democrats.
Does Lombardo think Republicans are above the law? Does Lombardo think that he represents only Republican voters in Nevada? Is he a fan of Republican racketeering? Because that’s sure what it looks like. The stench of collusion permeates all the way from Carson City.
It’s high time all of those involved in the criminal scheme to screw with Democratic votes in Nevada be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. To hell with “limited immunity” and looking the other way when it’s Republicans on a rampant crime spree. The governor and others should not be able to gamble with our votes.
